Thousands of Cownose Stingrays caught on Video in St. Pete

This was awesome past week for the Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater area. See Through Canoe recorded some excellent footage as THOUSANDS of cownose rays migrated through the Tampa Bay water! The huge group is called a "fever" of rays.

About the Cownose Ray

The cownose ray is a species of eagle ray found throughout most of the western Atlantic and Caribbean. These rays are found from New England, United States to southern Brazil and are now officially considered a separate species, R. marginata). The Cownose ray species grow very rapidly, and the male rays can often reach around 35 inches in width and weigh upwards of 26 pounds. The Females are typically 28 inches in width and weigh around 36 pounds.
